Our Work
At Blue 42 Market, our work is simple: To Serve & Create— to serve our community with the highest quality goods, and to create a space where the community can come together on a regular basis to share in music, food, art, and local culture. Blue 42 Market will provide a sustainable source of Georgia grown™ fresh fruit, vegetables, honey, bread, pastries, locally roasted coffee, local art, crafts, provisions & goods to residents, the students and faculty of the University of North Georgia, and to all who visit the historic downtown square of our special mountain town. Our location is perfect to achieve our work. We are across the street from the newest development on UNG’s campus, and a short stroll down historic Park Street from the very heart of our downtown square, where festivals and fun fill the streets for tourists and locals each year.
Blue 42 Market will function as an economic development tool and as a community gathering place. The purpose of the market is to promote locally grown & made products, to provide the best coffee and bakery goods to those who most need them- college students (and the faculty who teach them), tourists exploring downtown, and locals looking for a fun and inviting space to socialize and relax. Think of the atmosphere one might find at a favorite local brewery, a social club, or a coffee shop with live music. Due to the nature of our community-focused mission and our premium location, Blue 42 Market will serve to highlight downtown Dahlonega, encouraging visitors to patronize nearby businesses, as well.
We will be anchored by our fundamental business as a coffee shop and bakery, but we will build our brand around the idea of engaging the community as a second “welcome center” for those who want to explore our town. Blue 42 Market will become an established pilgrimage for locals who want to see the finest local farmer’s market goods each week. Blue 42 Market’s intention is for vendors, customers, downtown businesses, and local residents to benefit from our market.
